Cozy Courchevel: Family Spring Skiing
When it comes to family ski holidays, Courchevel 1650 strikes that rare balance of stylish alpine luxury and relaxed, family-friendly charm. Last Easter, we swapped the countryside for snowy slopes, escaping with friends, to Courchevel 1650, and it truly was ski perfection.
Staying Stylishly: Luxury Meets Comfort
One of the perks of having your own travel business is that you have access to all the best suppliers, and I used one of my absolute faves to book a cozy catered chalet for our Courcheval ski week and it blew us away surpassing all expectations! Courchevel 1650 (also known as Moriond) offers a slightly quieter, effortlessly chic vibe compared to its flashier neighbour up the mountain, Courchevel 1850. Our chalet was the ideal family haven - warm wooden interiors, cozy fireside evenings, and enough space for everyone to stretch out and unwind after an exhilarating day on the slopes.
Tip: Look for ski-in / ski-out chalets to maximise slope time and simplify your day - no ski buses for the win!
Exploring The Slopes: Courchevel 1650 to 1850
The beauty of staying in Courchevel 1650 is its easy connection to the vast slopes of Courchevel 1850 and Les 3 Vallées. Courchevel range of slopes were perfect for our group’s mixed skiing abilities, offering gentle wide runs for leisurely cruising and exciting pistes for more experienced skiers.
Nestled away from the shadow of the mountain tops we enjoyed leisurely, wide runs around 1650, ideal for warming up and finding our rhythm, then, we seamlessly (well, with the occasional tumble!) skied over to Courchevel 1850, where more challenging pistes, stunning panoramic views and chic restaurants and bars awaited us.
Tip: Head over early to the Signal lift to catch freshly groomed runs and beat the crowds.
Après-ski 1650: Après-Ski the Family Way
Après-ski in Courchevel 1650 is relaxed, friendly, and totally family-appropriate. We often ended our ski days sipping rosé and enjoying delicious crêpes at cozy cafés like La Boulotte, soaking up the warm alpine ambiance, or savoring a glass of champagne at a chic slope-side bar, while Teddie explored the local scene and chilled back at the chalet with the other teens.
Tip: For a fun experience, reserve a fondue night at Le Petit Savoyard - authentic, memorable, and fun!
Après-ski 1850: Après-Ski the Luxe Way
Après-ski in Courchevel 1850 was an experience in itself, blending glamour with family-friendly fun. One highlight was Bagatelle - vibrant yet elegant, offering an incredible atmosphere, delicious bites, and a touch of Parisian sophistication on the slopes. It was a perfect place to unwind after skiing and soak in the stylish alpine ambiance - and the sunshine.
Tip: Reserve ahead for an unforgettable afternoon at Bagatelle, enjoying gourmet dishes and the lively yet luxurious atmosphere.
Courchevel: Beyond Skiing
Courchevel offers more than just fantastic skiing. Friends spent a magical afternoon snowshoeing through pristine forests and the kids enjoyed ice skating and the we loved shopping around Courchevel’s stylish boutiques, adding even more memorable moments to our alpine escape. Don’t miss the Moriond Racing toboggan track in 1650 for a fun family-friendly experience too - not for the faint of heart!
Would We Go Back Tomorrow? Absolutely.
Courchevel 1650 delivered the perfect combination of luxury, adventure, and family connection. It was stylish, fun, and beautiful, leaving us with full hearts, refreshed and already looking forward to our next alpine getaway.
